The Villager Deli Restaurant in downtown Pinehurst is a favorite of both visitors and locals. We went on a pleasant fall day, and the outdoor patio was filled with customers.

They’re open for breakfast and lunch every day of the week. The lunch menu is on the blackboard and at each table on paper ballots. To order, each diner fills out what they want with pens at the table and the staff picks it up.

When we went, we had the ham sandwich and the recommended Ruben. Both came with chips and pickle.

The Villager Deli offers a tasty, no-frills meal. It’s just quick and easy, which probably stems from the owner. When I asked him if he wanted to add anything of interest to pass on, he simply said, “Thanks for coming.”
